What is ClickUp?

ClickUp is a project management software that is similar to Trello, Asana, Notion, and many others. It is used to keep track of certain tasks and people working on those tasks.

What can ClickUp do?

When a team member has a task or item and needs to share it with a certain team, they make a ‘card’ in that team’s ‘workspace’ under the appropriate ‘space’. That ‘card’ can then be tracked, viewed, and compared to other cards and information as needed. ‘Status’ is where a project’s progress is tracked.

I relate ClickUp to a file cabinet, the ‘workspace’ is the file cabinet itself, the ‘spaces’ are the different drawers, the ‘statuses’ are the folders in the drawer, and the ‘cards’ are the information in those folders.

When you create the ‘spaces’, or drawers, you can make them cover any topic/project you want. You can also customize the ‘statuses’, or folders, within that drawer. These statuses are a set of ‘checkpoints’ that a certain task or piece of information is tracked with. It moves from start to finish, with checkpoints in between. Anyone with access to that ‘space’ can see where that task is and who is working on it.

Also, while designing your ‘spaces’, you can select which ‘views’ you would like to include. There are several, but I find the board, the calendar, and the mind map are most useful.

Why did we pick ClickUp?

There are many project management applications, so why did we pick ClickUp? The answer is simple really, customization and variety. There is so much you can customize and pick from, from the different spaces/projects to the different viewpoints, that it was hard to turn away, especially as we are a creative company. ClickUp is easily one of the most, if not the most, customizable project management software out there. The number one factor that made us pick ClickUp is the Gantt view and the mind map view. Most of the other views are standard in a project management software, but these two views were unique to ClickUp and allowed for further comparison and tracking.

How do we use ClickUp?

At ARGI we use ClickUp to track our social media posts, our blogs and what stage of the writing they are in, our client profiles and tasks that we need to get done for them, and other projects where we see a need. ClickUp has become essential in our everyday work lives. We do a great job of creating tasks and moving them along the sequence to track them. We have all been doing a fantastic job of including the pertinent information on the card from the start, so everyone knows the details with a simple glance. Such data includes the due date, who needs to work on the project, the priority, and any other details that need to accompany it. This allows members to gain an easy understanding of every project just by looking at that one card.

Overall, we have benefitted and enjoyed using ClickUp and would recommend that those looking for project management software try it as well! Another huge advantage of ClickUp is the support and age of the software. ClickUp is relatively new and made up of a young group of developers. They are fantastic at supporting the software and listening to the users and what they want out of the app. They regularly make changes and update the software, so it is constantly being improved.
