I’m guessing that most of you, like me, listen to music all day while working. During a recent office rearrangement, I thought back over some of the speakers I’ve used over time. Some choices had to be a constraint when I was on long-term assignments and needed to pack & carry every day! I’ve tried to put this list in chronological order of what I owned, but here are 10 work speakers that I have used!

Boston Acoustics BA635
Two speakers and a sub-woofer. These were actually pretty good. I was shocked. They came with the system I purchased and were in use after the system retired, perfect for the small offices I’ve had. And the system comes with a little stuffed cow!!

Ultimate Ears BOOM 3
Perfect for short assignments and sounds great on your desk. Waterproof and very durable is an added bonus!
3
Bose Wave Radio
This was the first generation and a hand-me-down when we upgraded at the house. The sound was good, not great. Had a clock on it too.
4
Logitech – z533
Two speakers and a subwoofer. This was the first set of speakers that had the power and presence to be a bit much for my small office. This is also where I picked up my quirk about where the sound comes from. To this day I rearrange my speakers once or twice a week to try for the ‘right’ sound in my chair. Been doing it ever since.

Bose Cinemate II
Two speakers and a sub-woofer. Wow. No matter how these were positioned in my average 12’x12’ offices, they sounded great and could be used as a sonic weapon should anyone bother me! They now keep our conference room happy.

Bose 301 Bookshelf Speakers
These are my current speakers. They are the successor to the old high-end dorm speakers and maintain the ‘Bose Bouncing Sound’ feature. You strategically aim them at walls, etc. and that surface becomes your ‘speaker’. Very cool, although the sound fills the building and I think everyone around here is inconvenienced a little too much.
7
Apple HomePod
Odd time to bring this one up given it was just canceled. Great sound for background white noise, but not great from my perspective. Only has one speaker anyway so I can’t move it around too much. Here is a stand for it because it is no longer sold on amazon.
8
Bose Soundlink II
This small speaker is incredible. We use it in the house, on the patio, when we travel. As with any Bose, if you position it near a wall, that wall becomes your sub.
9
MacBook Pro Speakers
Must include these! They aren’t going to get anyone rocking in the aisles, but they are a great backup.
10
iPad & iPhone Speakers
They do improve with each generation. The iPad Pro speakers get their workout while I’m cooking and no problem!
